Jokes aside, +1000, webapps are great but they are not a silver bullet, for many things a native app is far more indicated, and that's totally the case here.

I highly doubt that. Every OS out there has their own methods to manipulate the Network and AFAIK Electron does not expose them via some unified API. So native apps is your way.
