I'm Ahzem, a passionate undergraduate student studying Information Technology at the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa, in Bandarawela, Sri Lanka. Although I'm not fluent in English, I'm committed to learning and improving my skills.
Highs and Lows
This was my first Hacktoberfest, and it was quite a journey. Some of my biggest accomplishments during this month included making my first four valid pull requests. It was a true light-bulb moment when I realized how my contributions could make a difference in open-source projects. I faced some challenges along the way, encountering problems that seemed impossible to fix. However, I adapted by seeking guidance from the community and learning from others' code. It was a valuable learning experience.
Growth
Before Hacktoberfest 2023, my skillset in open-source contributions was limited. However, during this event, I improved my coding skills and gained a better understanding of version control systems, such as Git. These newfound skills have not only enhanced my learning but have also opened up new possibilities for my career goals. I'm now more confident in contributing to open-source projects and have set new goals to continue this journey.
