End-to-end encryption is a security feature that protects your messages from being read by anyone except you and the people you're messaging with. It is turned on by default for all Messenger chats, and there is no way to disable it for individual chats. However, you can turn off end-to-end encryption for all of your Messenger chats by following these steps:
- Open the Messenger app and tap on the Settings icon (the gear icon).
- Scroll down and tap on Privacy & Security.
- Tap on End-to-end encrypted chats.
- Tap on the toggle switch next to Turn off end-to-end encryption to turn it off.
- Please note that turning off end-to-end encryption will make your messages less secure. If you are concerned about the security of your messages, we recommend that you do not turn off end-to-end encryption.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind about end-to-end encryption in Messenger:
End-to-end encryption is only turned off for new chats. Existing chats will remain end-to-end encrypted.
You can always turn on end-to-end encryption for a specific chat by going to the chat and tapping on the Info icon. Then, tap on Turn on end-to-end encryption.
End-to-end encryption is not available for group chats.
We hope this helps!
