Yes, folks. The farm is real.
Notice how you will not be able to see the very last packages uploaded to NPM, unless you knew already that they existed, and their names.
Strategy to block progress, as usual. The idea of creating Lynda, and not a Free Online University directly, follows the same thinking lines of the old times, the same as buying companies like Github and Npm. It is simple: people is, mainly, or stupid, or unable to fight them. They are the winners, and they want us, as Steve Jobs said, hungry and foolish. If, beside this, you create software for them, for free, what else can they demmand? Well, wait for it, they always want... no, they always need more. Otherwise, they would not be where they are today.
Strategy to steal software, as usual. Remember how was got the first piece of software built by Microsoft? By money. There is a battle, and rats want to fight. But... blocking others is excessive. But this is the tradition: I am rich, I buy your virtues, and put them to work for me (and against competence).
And nothing will happen.
You are used to be abused and stay ok. This is the world... Is not it?
Let us see the video again.

Fun, anyone?

I fail to see how not being able to see the newest packages uploaded will help Microsoft steal software. I sure don’t find NPM packages by going through the absolute newest ones, and I doubt anyone else does. And how can they even steal software that’s open source?
This honestly sounds like one of those conspiracy theories where the only evidence is what the person behind it believes and not actual facts.
So, you agree with the strategy to block progress. Well, it is enough for you today, kid.
I don’t see how it blocks progress, but that doesn’t mean I believe in doing so.
Sure. Imagine that you decide the visibility of all the software created for a programming language. I think that the scenario is self-explanatory.
So? People can still find packages, and there are other means of discovering them.
They should have no right to ofuscate the finding of open source of such an important repo like NPM. You are accepting they do. Law should interfere, though, because this is called monopolization, and it is illegal.
You can still find packages. I’m not sure you’ve heard of this, but the site has a thing called the search bar. Use it.
There is another new thing, it is called time filters. The search without it becomes... pure rubish.
I thought the problem was not being able to see the absolute newest packages. But if you wanna see packages that get more updates, you can click “Maintenance” in the left side of the search results.
Thank you, but no. What I wanted is to see the packages created since the begining of the year, for example.
That is absolutely necessary to OPEN THE SOURCES. But that is not the plan of these people, despite they like to wear the medal of the Open Source. Blocking progress, that is the plan of Microsoft.
Give me one use case where being able to filter packages by when they were created is absolutely necessary.
TO BE UP TO DATE, basic skill of the development world.
Up to date with the latest NPM packages? Trust me, you won't be using 99.999% of what's on NPM.
That is not the point at all.
People is SHARING THEIR PIECES OF CODE with THE WORLD, not with Microsoft only. These people is not representing software community, only a few opportunists, as usual.
But I do not want to talk about this topic, you seem very skeptical, and it is not my goal to convince anyone, nor discuss absurdly what is and is not happening.
About sharing your code, there are tons of other sites where people can do that. Microsoft won't be doing anything by removing the ability to see the latest packages uploaded to NPM.
And if you don't want to talk about it, then why did you make a post talking about it in the first place?
If you do not understand the meaning of transparency, honesty, law, I do not know what you want me to talk about this.
I'm not sure where you got the idea that I don't understand those things.
Well, it is human, you try to save what you are used to.
What you are saying makes zero sense.
For you, I am sure.
If all you’re gonna do is be condescending instead of actually providing actual arguments, I don’t want to waste my time on this.
I am the only one that provided arguments here, so yes, waste tour time in another thing, you cannot think critically, you have been nullified to criticize human evil. I cannot help you.
If I login, clever boy, they can easily filter what to see and how.
Or have you, perhaps, confirmed they do not "customize" contents, as Google, Facebook, Twitter, and everyone does?
Yah, we all very clever. Conspiracy is for losers, for locos.
PD: the picture is not about conspiracies (?), is part of the US dollar bill.
