A quick look back
Hello everyone! I'm Saurav Jain, your Community Manager at Amplication. In 2018, took my first step into the dynamic world of Hacktoberfest, and since then, I haven't looked back. As the Community Manager at Amplication, my involvement with Hacktoberfest reached a crescendo last year when I was given the incredible opportunity to organize a major campaign for our organization. The response was overwhelming. We received a lot of contributions from every corner of the globe. The diversity and volume of input were amazing, from code adjustments to non-code contributions, bug fixes, feature requests, and even documentation and tutorials. Reflecting on last year, the passion and dedication displayed by developers worldwide is what fuels my enthusiasm for Hacktoberfest. It's heartwarming to see so many individuals dedicate their time and skills to the betterment of the open-source community.
Amplication: A proud sponsor of Hacktoberfest 2023
Guess what's even more exciting? This year, we're not only participating, we're sponsoring Hacktoberfest 2023 on its 10th anniversary! With bigger responsibilities come even bigger plans; trust me, we've got some fascinating stuff in store.
What's on the agenda?
We've prepped dozens of issues spanning various domains like bug fixes, UI/UX improvements, documentation enhancements, and more.
Regardless of whether you're a beginner or a seasoned developer, there's something for you. Here are the repositories we're mainly focusing on:
You can even suggest new issues. Just make sure to get them verified by our team before diving in.
Beyond code: Diverse contributions
Coding isn't the only way to contribute. We believe that open source is for everyone. That's why we're introducing a wide array of non-code contributions. These include crafting product use cases, creating Amplication tutorials, making instructional videos like 'How to do XYZ using Amplication,' and conducting user interviews.
The icing on the cake: Rewards!
Who doesn't love rewards, right? Contribute to one issue and grab some exclusive Amplication stickers. Solve three, and you'll be the proud owner of an Amplication T-shirt. And for those who are up for a real challenge, we have 10+ Premium Issues lined up, each coming along with special prizes ranging up to $500 worth of gift cards.
Premium Issues:
We invite experienced developers who are willing to take a challenge and build something that can help thousands of developers.
We put together 10+ premium issues, including new development for our robust plugin system. Each issue in the category is associated with a gift card worth up to $500 that you can claim, or you can choose to donate the similar amount to an open-source project of your choice.
- If you are qualified and have knowledge for the task, please select the plugin you want to work on and feel free to share any background information associated with the skillset.
- Once the issue is assigned to you, we will invite you to a private discord channel where you can talk with our team members, ask for help, and share your progress on the task.
To ensure continuous work on the issue and prevent delays for other community members (so you guys won’t have to wait for issues), if there's no activity for three days, the issue may be reassigned to another community member.
How to get started?
So, how do you dive in? It's simple:
- Visit our GitHub repo and look for an issue that interests you.
- Drop a comment asking us to assign it to you.
- Once assigned, get cracking!
