I think people still don't realize how impactful and important these kinds of comments can be for someone. Feedback is rare in general. Positive feedback is even more so.

I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this!

Thank you!

Hi, I'm Vivek Bhookya

Hi, I just wanted to share,

I see that you've put in some serious effort in leveling up your compliment game...to the point where you can teach how to give effective compliments to others :)
I will definitely explore your strategies and experiment myself ~

Felt it would be nice to express this, good job :)

Homework challenge accepted, 'gon start by complementing this laptop for lasting 5hrs under subtle duress.

And I just told the 500GB Harddisk it's smart too, not complaining that it's sucking some charge off the laptop.

And to you Anna; Vielen Dank.

I am surprised to find such a brillant article on dev.to 🙂 Great tips, especially the one with "haunted by the idea the person dies" and the one with "somebody talking bad about your friend and you try to convince the other person about the good characteristics of your friend". Thank you, I will keep this in mind. ❤ ... and the homework is such a great idea!!

Really enjoyed this article! Also now living in Germany and something I have noticed is that in general, compared to the US (especially the south), people compliment each other a lot less. I have spoken with friends and family and some claim that the reason they do not want to compliment others is because it might come off as being a brownnoser. I believe most people who receive a compliment are flattered and it usually lifts spirits. There is something to be said though about giving out too many compliments- it does not seem as genuine. However, I agree with you more compliments are better than not enough.

I'd just like to say, I find this type of content entertaining.

Also wondering if you are planning on doing an article one how to receive compliments; I'm asking for a friend 🙃

Haha! Good question! I've definitely thought about it, but the simple answer is to just say "Thank you" and accept it. You know what, why not? I'll try to write something up about it soon :)

Thank you Anna. We all needed this, especially me. I love the soft openings, very helpful and avoids awkwardness in extending a compliment.
