The Open Source Promotion Program (OSPP), initiated by the the Institute of Software Chinese Academy of Sciences, is an exciting summer event that encourages university students to actively participate in the development and maintenance of open-source software, push the growth of open-source communities.
We made our debut and announced 2 projects for students all over the world! We want to invite students worldwide to apply our projects, and dive into the open-source world with us.

Our Projects for OSPP 2024
We strike to build easy-to-start and good-to-go Q&A platform software for every team. With this idea in mind, we bring 2 projects this year. Both projects require applicants to process fundamental experience in TypeScript, Golang, and React.
Project 1: Personalized Recommendations
Language: Chinese
Difficulty: Basic
Bonus: RMB 8,000 (before tax)

Description: Develop a personalized recommendation system that generates tailored content lists based on a user's current interests, interactions, and engagement. This feature will empower users to easily discover relevant content and actively participate in community activities.

Project 2: Answer Bot Plugin
Language: Chinese and English
Difficulty: Advanced
Bonus: RMB 12,000 (before tax)
Mentor: LinkinStar
Description: Choose an instant messaging platform (such as Slack, etc.) and integrate it into Apache Answer with plugin to allow users log in and bind accounts, receive notification reminders from Answer, and directly ask questions through keywords/ask and search content through keywords/search. etc,. There’s no need for users to leave current workflow to ask or answer a question.

How to Participate
Students can register now and log in to the system through the student login portal on the official website, and fill in their personal information according to the requirements. Once the information is approved by the committee, the registration will be considered successful. Please kindly check the student guide for timeline and notice.
Deadline for student registration: 06/03 15:00 UTC+8.
Deadline for project application: 06/04 18:00 UTC+8.
Upon successful registration, you can choose the projects and communicate with the mentors before project application. Once again, if you have any questions for our projects, please reach mentor directly via email. We’re always here for you.
