Commands Description
$systemctl reboot Reboot the system
$sudo systemctl reboot
[sudo] password for srini:
Reboot the system with sudo
$sudo systemctl poweroff
[sudo] password for srini:
Poweroff the system with sudo
$sudo systemctl reboot --force
[sudo] password for srini:
Force reboot the system with sudo
$sudo systemctl poweroff --force
[sudo] password for srini:
Force Poweroff the system with sudo
$sudo systemctl reboot --force --force
[sudo] password for srini:
Its exactly like pressing reset button
$sudo systemctl poweroff --force --force
[sudo] password for srini:
Its like unplugging the computer from power source
$sudo shutdown 02:00
[sudo] password for srini:
Time format : 00:00 to 23:50
shutdowns at 2 am in the morning
$sudo shutdown +15
[sudo] password for srini:
Shutdowns after 15minutes
$sudo shutdown -r 02:00
[sudo] password for srini:
Reboots and shutdown at 2am
$sudo shutdown -r +15
[sudo] password for srini:
Reboots and Shutdowns after 15minutes
$sudo shutdown -r +1 ' Scheduled restart to do an offline backup'
[sudo] password for srini:
Reboots and Shutdowns after 1 minute before to that will get a warning message

Note : systemctl comes from the word - system control
