I really liked your post :-) Regarding the carbon offsetting, then I think it is both good and bad, but that is just my opinion.
You could say that if you solve the problem with offsetting, then the problem still exists. With other words; If i poor poison in the drinking water leading to all the houses in my neighborhood, but I pay to get water cleaned somewhere else, then the people in my neighborhood still gets poisoned, and that problem will exist until I stop pooring poison.
When it comes to making the internet more sustainable, then we are all working toward the same goal which is reducing the greenhouse gasses and the environmental impact. But how can we do that if people just throw money at the problem instead of dealing with what is causing the problem.
