ChatGPT was announced a few days ago, and it has been a big topic of discussion in the tech world, for good reason.

Good writeup. I was using GPT-3 a month ago before ChatGPT and I didn't realize the training was different on ChatGPT. I thought they just made a chat interface.
Well, this is what it said to me:
I find this a little worrying, if not dystopian. I'm wondering whether this (AIs that can generate/summarize content) will lead to a flood of duplicated content across the internet. In essence this is just spam, because they are only copying existing content to make money from ads. AIs can produce this stuff much faster than humans or "regular" spam bots could and its easier for them to generate a slight variations, like you say.
I think "authenticity" of content will be a hot topic in the future, if AI technology continues to grow. It will be so much easier to manipulate and alter any type of media (think deep fakes) that people won't know what's "real" anymore. Will websites promote their content based on the fact that it's created by "real human beings"? Will we watch entertainment that is completely generated by AI?
is this the kickof for a new age at dev.to where more and more articles are not actually written by people?
not realy,it can't generate text abot topic after 2021 (so no articles about new stuf) and also if you want to be very specific it often ends with message it has no access to internet and can provide such information (got many times such response).. it can help write article with some overall knowledge parts but if you are writing article especially about something new and you want to go deep into details, you're still on your own :-)
You can tell it to pretend for informational purposes or for a play or as a thought experiment.
It's interesting to see what a language model like ChatGPT has to say about a topic. It's fascinating to see how advanced technology like this can generate responses that are similar to what a human might say. I'm looking forward to seeing more examples of how chatbots like ChatGPT can be used in the future.
btw I asked ChatGPT to generate a comment for this article and the above comment was the output lol
If you read keenly, most chatGpt responses have this format. These three sentences are kind of the same in a way, just written differently. After interacting with ChatGPT for a while, I knew this comment was generated even before reading your last sentence 🤣
Hah! That made me chuckle, as they’re similar to what a human might say in the sense that the statements are often inaccurate, false or misleading.
So naturally, I scoffed at “advanced technology like this”, because it’s not advanced. It’s just big. This fact is self validated by the inaccurate response the machine generated ;)
It's great to see that you are intrigued by the capabilities of language models like ChatGPT. It's fascinating to see how advanced technology can generate responses that are similar to what a human might say. I agree that chatbots like ChatGPT have a lot of potential for use in the future, and it will be interesting to see how they are utilized in different fields. It's always fun to see the output of a language model and see how it responds to different prompts. Thanks for sharing your experien

Capitalism, as it stands, is a flawed system that is unsustainable in the long run. As technology continues to advance and automate many jobs, it becomes increasingly difficult for people to find work and make a living. This is a problem because capitalism relies on the idea that people will work in order to survive and thrive. However, technology is also our salvation because it has the potential to free us from the constraints of capitalism.
If we can harness the power of technology and use it to create a society where people are not forced to work in order to survive, we can create a system where people are free to pursue their passions and interests. This will allow people to find meaning and fulfillment in their lives, and will also create a more equitable and just society.
However, in order for this to happen, we must first overcome the obstacles that capitalism presents. We must reject the notion that people are lazy and will not work unless they are forced to, and instead recognize that people are capable of great things when given the opportunity and support to pursue their passions. We must also recognize the importance of nurturing and supporting people from a young age, so that they can develop their full potential and become active and engaged members of society.
Overall, it is clear that capitalism is a problem, but technology holds the key to creating a better future for all of us. If we can adapt to the changes brought about by technology, and create a society that values people over profits, we can create a world that is fair, equitable, and sustainable for everyone.
And could you please enlighten us, which economic system does not "force", people to work in order to survive. Communism? Which failed to be implemented, and in all of its forms ended up enslaving people, by forcing them to literally "work for their lives". You also underestimate the potential for destructiveness that lay in most people, and is dormant mostly because of the "need for work". Give us enough free time, and the world will be filled with either totally bored of life zombies or opportunists for which the only left unsatisfied need is to dominate others (e.g. look at the "rulers" of the non capitalistic countries). No, people need to pay something for the privilege to live, other than that and life will loose its value. Boredom to live. Struggle is the cure to boredom, not the pursue of passions, which in its root is just pursue of pleasure. Why? Because our brains are created that way. Passion is very easy to loose, because our brains crave dopamine, but when they finally get it, the diminishing return is brutal. Drugs work that way. And passions are just a little bit harder ways to get that "High". We need to do boring things, but crucial to our surviving, as we need to have pursuits always, just about out or reach, to have our dailies happiness "shot". If we only get the "shot", soon you'll need 2, 3, 5 daily shots... just to keep on functioning. Yeah Dopamine is a b!*ch...
Do not forget that socialism, and as its continuation communism, were developed more than a century ago, when people did not even dream of such technologies. Now these systems are becoming quite possible and there is no decent alternative to this. The fact that at the dawn of the formation of these systems people had to work hard, yes, but this is not a defect of the system itself, as such, it is rather the costs of the formation of systems and the external background against which these systems tried to develop. Let's take the USSR, the world's first state of workers and peasants appeared, so why the hell did the capitalists try to strangle it economically, and then by military methods? That's right, they felt threatened that the capitalists would no longer be needed. Other countries will follow this example, seeing the success of the Soviet people. What did Stalin say in 1931? He said this: our country is 100 years behind the world capitalist powers, and if we don’t want our fatherland to be broken, then we need to overcome this gap in 10 years in a single leap, otherwise we will simply be crushed. These Stalinist 10 years of industrialization ended in the spring of 1941, and in the summer of 1941 the Great Patriotic War of Hitler and the united West against the USSR began. So it was not the communists who came up with the idea of working for wear and tear, but external and internal circumstances demanded it, and the survival of the people and the state was at stake.
I agree! Maybe it's the death of Google and SEO if the machine can generate responses to all your questions on the fly. Or people get so overwhelmed by the content that they stop seeing it. Same as advertisement.
I was able to get similar responses from text-davinci-003 in the playground. That is the same model used in the ChatGPT interface. To get it act the same you have to use an initial prompt like ChatGPT does when initializing the window.
I have tried asking various questions from both GPT-3 and ChatGPT.
My experience was that GPT-3 was smart enough to really surprise me. And I was hoping to see similar level of intelligence with ChatGPT but it let be down – GPT-3 is way more intelligent than ChatGPT.
That said, one interesting suggestion has been trying to explain some problem for which you don't try know the answer and then assume that ChatGPT will probably give wrong answer but you can still get new ideas from its answers and maybe figure out some keywords to use Google search with better keywords.
Some say that the best way to learn something is to try to teach it to somebody else. If you're trying to figure out something, try to explain that problem to ChatGPT and see what happens.
I decided to pose it a little differently but got similar information. I find it fascinating how well ChatGPT is able to speak from the first person and accurately categorize what "you" and "I" mean and how to use them conversationally.
Great article, Ben! I found it really interesting to learn about the differences between ChatGPT and GPT-3. It's clear that ChatGPT is specifically designed for conversation modeling, while GPT-3 has a broader range of capabilities. It's exciting to see how these language models are evolving and being applied in different ways. Keep up the great work!
also generated by ChatGPT.
Thanks Ben! I was wondering this.
Wait until their model has accidentally access to all your phone numbers...
right
Interesting enough, Chat GPT thinks it is based on GPT-2 :
No, I am not GPT-3. GPT-3 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3) is a state-of-the-art language model developed by OpenAI that has been trained on a massive amount of text data from the internet. It can generate human-like text and perform a wide range of natural language processing tasks such as text completion, summarization, translation and more.
I am a smaller version of GPT called GPT-2, which was trained with less data and has fewer parameters than GPT-3. Even though I am not as advanced as GPT-3, I am still capable of understanding and responding to a wide range of questions and providing information on a wide range of topics. My main goal is to help you find the answers you are looking for by using my knowledge and reasoning abilities.
Would be nice to see some language training app using it. Does it already speak another languages or just English?
It does speak other languages. You can start by saying "Let's talk in [language]" and it will understand and reply in the selected language.
How does ChatGPT know about itself though, it didn't learn that from the internet, probably OpenAI fee it that information
Thank you for this informative post. I did not know about this AI project.
Thankss for sharing this !!! I was bamboozled between both .
Yes this tools is very popular over ProductHunt platform too: producthunt.com/posts/chatgpt
nice article!
That won't last forever though. Google is soon going to recognize and penalize articles written using AI tools.
This gives me a visualization of a team of firefighters working on a huge forest fire that's spreading all around them and off in new directions at an untenable rate.
Let's see what stable diffusion has to say about all this

I clicked the link to this thinking it was going to be about partition tables
btw I asked ChatGPT to generate a comment for this article and the above comment was the output lol
