I have a lot of favourite books about data science and machine learning, so it's a difficult choice. But if I have to pick only one, would be this one:

The most important reason is the content selection. It covers a lot of algorithms for machine and deep learning.
For me, its R for Data Science. It's the first book I read on the subject, and my introduction to R on my first college course on the subject.
