Becoming a self-taught developer is not an easy feat, but it can be a rewarding journey. As someone who has walked this path, I can attest to the challenges and the joys of learning how to code without formal education.
At first, I tried to learn by reading books and watching videos online, but I quickly realized that I needed a more structured approach. I got a 6months internship, which provided me with a solid foundation in web development.
After completing the internship, I started working on personal projects and to contribute to some of my friend’s projects to build up my portfolio. I also took on freelance projects to gain real-world experience and earn some income.
Despite the challenges, my journey as a self-taught developer has been incredibly rewarding. I've been able to work on projects that I'm passionate about and hopefully one day I’ll make a positive impact on the world. I've also had the opportunity to work with and learn from other talented developers, both online and in-person.
If you're considering becoming a self-taught developer, my advice is to start with a structured learning program, such as an online course or coding bootcamp. Build up your portfolio with personal projects and freelance work, and don't be afraid to ask for help or collaborate with others.
Most importantly, stay motivated, disciplined, and passionate about your craft, and you'll be well on your way to a fulfilling career as a self-taught developer.
