Have you been programming for long and you wonder why you can't create great applications that solve real world problems?
Or have you ever known a new programmer in the field and within 6 months of coding they are more of an expert than you are?
If you have experienced at least one of this, you are most likely making one or more of the following common mistakes new programmers make.
- Lack of Focus
- Copy and pasting code
- Getting stack in tutorial hell
These are mistakes that I personally made, especially the first one. I would jump from one programming language to another due to community influence and experts in the field. I wanted to master multiple programming languages at once which is not possible.
After two years of coding, I was still a lost sheep. When people asked me what I do, I would say I'm a programmer. But, would I create real world applications? The answer is No. I was still learning the basics of different programming languages.
How I started to see good results from my hard work, is when I took a step back and decided to focus on web development, and to be more specific, JavaScript.
