I began coding because...
I came to the coding game late in life. I'm just starting this amazing journey at the age of 30, but it all started because I wanted to transition out of my 15 year career in the veterinary field. I knew I wanted to do something with language. So I started to go for my Masters in English, but after conversations with many in academia and others who had left the field, I knew it wasn't the right place for me. I had been playing around with code ever since I managed the build of my current animal hospital's website and thought, hey maybe I could do this? I always had an aptitude for technology, but never thought I was smart enough to build applications. It was a scary leap for me, but coding at home was way too fun for me to let my fears get in the way and decided to apply for the Rutgers Coding Bootcamp.
I'm currently hacking on...
My portfolio and personal website! I'm just past the half way mark in my bootcamp and I'm working on taking all the great skills I've learned and the cool projects I've made and polish them up.
I'm excited about...
I'm really excited to find a job in this field and work with a team. I can't wait to make this the main focus of my life.
My advice for other women who code is...
Keep up the amazing work of making this community so supportive and welcoming to everyone.
