How many times have you heard the term thrown around by recruiters and hiring managers? And why would you want that unless they were literally your only developer and they are able to keep the lights on and add some functionality to existing applications here and there, what is wrong with that? Now, when you have a fully staffed development team, would you really want a full-stack developer or a Software Engineer who is either an expert in database, back-end/logic or your designer for whom is the UI expert?
I am creating this post because for too long the term full-stack has been thrown around and I honestly don't think the hiring managers and recruiters know what they are talking about half the time. In your opinion, what do you think about using the term and does it affect us negatively or positively? That could more less depend on the job description and company/team.
Would like to hear your thoughts on this ever growing topic and who thinks themselves as 'full-stack' or a Software Engineer. Another term that has been propagating lately is Programmer Technician and this arises as the industry continues to grow and like automotive industry as more cars hit the road the more mechanics we need and the same goes for computers and software/application development.
