There are only two categories of apps I really love

  • direct human 2 human communication like WhatsApp
  • tools I use for a very specific goal and close when that goal is reached like Google Maps or SimpleNote or Contacts
  • music(*)

What I avoid

  • social media / doom scrolling
  • being overwhelmed by automatic notificaitons, aka an external todo lsit

Not the most used, but very important:

  • KeePassDroid - I try hard to know as few passwords as possible.
  • AndFTP - Keeps the db for the above synced to my secure ftp.
  • Firefox - where I use the passwords I don't know.

Honourable mentions:

  • Glympse - for keeping the S.O. up to date on arrival times :D
  • A Mastodon Client * TOOTs! πŸ’¨
  • Destiny 2 - handy for the vice

I'm getting more value out of it than I did twitter (though I never used the twitter app.) I find there is better community content for the things I'm interested in. I like how moderation works and the local (the instance you're on), and the wider inter-instance moderation.
I've seen pretty much no bad actors unlike on FB or Twitter. (I think they get filtered out very quickly)

3 is very small number so only the basics excluding Google Apps like Chrome, YT and Maps,

  1. Whatsapp
  2. Cred / PhonePe (Credit Card bill payments and Online transaction app)
  3. Youtube Music
