Work will adapt, AI will take over some trivial tasks (which is OK, I guess), I believe that eventually work will be more intellectual, less hands-on (which is not OK, because I believe interest is a symptom of being hands-on, if that makes sense).

Extremely technical and niche fields will remain somewhat untouched.

If the job is super boring, probably, but then it's a good thing.

I think what happens is like always startups can't earn money, so they need to close deals, so they chase venture capitalist money.
Venure Capitalists are contrarians who have all the same ideas at the same time.
Startups need to make their startup idea shine, so they write about how it is The Future.
Suddenly, everyone is talking about the idea du jour, wether or not it will actually make an impact.

Personally I think predictions are hard when they are about the future.

Not so fast. I've been playing around with ChatGPT for some time now and while it can save you a lot of time on plumbing code and trivial tasks, it really doesn't produce a production grade or sometimes even half-decent code, even if you go with a few rounds of improvements.

For now, It can be another tool in your toolbelt, but I suspect it's gonna take some time before it can replace even junior programmers, not to mention experienced ones.

AI won't take "programmers" or "writers" jobs, but will make their work more productive. When it comes to programming, AI is really helpful at analyzing, planning, scaffolding, etc.

There's a good chance AI could take the work you do right now, but it also seems likely that you should be able to evolve the type of work you do to stay valuable and important.

First thing which the AI will do is - Replace all content or blog post writers. If we Humans are not doing this job well, the AI will conquer the world :)

The humans were doing a much better job of writing blog posts than AI... just look at the state of 'content' on DEV.to for a case in point

Totally agree. My comment was for the author who posted the one liner discussion item :)

I am a newbie to this platform, and I do apologize for my lack of understanding on how the discussion works here.

I would hope so but don't think so πŸ˜„

It will make it a lot more effective though. It already does now.

What I see is that AI makes butts flame all the time, but people doesn't see any value for their own works due to really bad onboarding and UX of all the stuff.
