This week, the tech club of Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University organized an insightful workshop on API 101: Hands-On with Postman[https://www.linkedin.com/company/postman-platform/about/] Led by the @adisuyash, this session brought together students eager to dive into the world of APIs and understand how they operate in the real world.
🌟 What We Learned
The workshop focused on the fundamentals of APIs. Each concept was broken down to make it easier for beginners and those familiar with APIs.
Exploring Postman
We were introduced to Postman, one of the most widely used tools for testing APIs. The demonstration of using Postman to interact with APIs made it simple to send requests and explore other advanced features.
Hands-On with GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE
The best part of the workshop was the hands-on session where we worked with actual APIs.
GET requests: Retrieving data from an API
POST requests: Sending data to create new resources
PUT requests: Updating existing resources
DELETE requests: Removing resources
Working through these HTTP methods in real time allowed us to experience API workflows incredibly.
💡 Why This Workshop Was a Game-Changer
For many of us, this was our first real exposure to working with APIs in such a practical, hands-on way. Reading about GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE is one thing, but actually using them with Postman gave us a deeper understanding of how APIs function in real-world applications.
