Great article. I also do procrastinate a lot and the main time thief is my smartphone. Checking news, social media, watching YouTube, installing new apps every day. The list goes on.
I deleted Apps that aren't worth any time - like 9gag for instance. And I installed an app called App Usage which prompts me when I use too much phone.
I still need to try splitting my work in smaller tasks. I heard about this method a lot.
Thanks!
Splitting work in small tasks is definitely a challenge. It didn't help me much when I was trying to break the tasks before I started to work, but when I started to use post-its as reminders "on the fly", it worked pretty well.
Awesome. Can you share that Chrome extension that hides the news feed from social media sites, please?
Sorry, I'm reading it in the morning :(
This is not social media it is important professional development. :)
Great article Edney! I will follow these steps to avoid procrastinating, I usually lose time reading twitter's feed and google news, also Facebook and its notifications, maybe another way to avoid it will be turning off all social media notifications (I mean if you don't want to uninstall the apps)
I opened this link to read, 5 minutes later I get myself looking the Twitter feed, avoid procrastination is too hard
great
I think procrastination is mainly due to what this dev.to post explains:

Sounds like we're a lot alike -- I completely agree with all of this!
I've also read both Deep Work and Quiet, would definitely recommend to anyone else reading this.
