Being part of the Developer & Research Community!!

Hello everyone!

I’m thrilled to be part of a vibrant learning community! With a background in IT, Business, Media, Communications and Social care, I bring a unique perspective to the table.

Tools for research:
ai tools for research

List of a few Philosophers in Ai, Tech & Politics:

iso27001 & iso42001 & how they are useful for developers and other professionals in respect of security and ethical governance:
iso27001 & iso42001

Here are a bunch of Ai languages innovations!: https://dev.to/gracerosen/listing-ai-innovations-263e

Here’s a section on risk: https://dev.to/gracerosen/risk-2om9

Here’s some debate topics: https://dev.to/gracerosen/debates-184

This is what I have been researching topically, (One of my main concerns is an ethical and responsible development):
https://dev.to/gracerosen/ai-ethics-and-society-4jf

Here’s some of my reading list: https://dev.to/gracerosen/my-reading-list-1ehd

In terms of social research, culture and its impact on staff/student wellbeing & responsible development here’s what I’ve written :

As an ethicist I am concerned that there’s an over reliance on LLMs - they are designed for language not complex math! Here’s a lab explaination of one LLM limitation - it is currently in development & suggestions have been made to improve its performance which is of ethical concern. The suggestion reconstructs the architecture somewhat and changes information flow and or possibly uses extensions.

Here is the LLM limitation full explanation:
limitations: problems with LLM performance

I wanted to take a moment to share an overview of my professional experiences that reflect my academic interests and research potential. Here’s a page about who I am (historical and summary to current research areas): https://dev.to/gracerosen/who-am-i-2je9

For a long time, I have assessed the value of my former experience and what I have learned on the jobs that I have worked on, So will include an overview of my experience & ways it enhances quality of post-industrial research.

Obviously not all experience is standardised so there’s hidden knowledge…

It is not easy to train a Ai-model on all unique case specific scenarios - so I would have concluded that those who have experience in nuanced areas around Ai & development of this, QA etc with sensitivity to art/philosophy and ethics/morals would have been valuable to future teams across Industries! 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

Especially if they have solid years in one area ⏳⏱️

I believe post industrial work experience ought to be respected and valued as relevant more than it is currently but the focus on ideas and change or transformation seems heftier

I considered that eventually, it may be discovered that cheating people out of contributing strengths to benefit a society which (ethically) ought to be designed to enable others and improve systems, only cheats the individuals themselves & system back in return!

The wins might not end up being true wins is my guess

I have moved within roles in HR, IT, governance, and administration

This reveals insight to me as a researcher on interdepartmental dynamics that can shape operational frameworks & in turn business models or development processes due to workflows as workplaces evolve with Ai or customise etc where identified inefficiencies or gaps in workflows are easier to pinpoint.

From a research perspective, this experience is invaluable when assessing ROI, AI integration, and operational adjustments and it may also possibly inform many of my research papers!

Working with reports and governance has exposed me to systems thinking and data analysis.

These experiences allow me to contextualise organisational knowledge and IT systems knowledge within wider operational frameworks and business use cases.

Development & Ai is instringically linked ofcourse

Image description

Experience could enhance systems design & this is why I want to make a point of drawing from my experience as part of that process (CI/CD) Continual improvement or continual development.

Image description

Organisations could face technological shifts, staff shortages, or regulatory changes,

my dynamic experience puts me in a prime position to research and implement change management strategies from a creative, humanistic and practical angle & experience across departments by reason of basic common sense would’ve opened up valuable internal/external networks key for researching and understanding business models, management matrices, tech, CSR & social impacts , ethics and partnership dynamics, integrating real-world case studies and lessons into research, blending experiential learning with academic inquiry.

Image description

My CV or LinkedIn profile outlines many experiences from Bed bureau management to clinical governance indicating project leadership, decision-making under pressure, and systemic oversight to honed crisis management, team coordination, and stakeholder communication—skills - transferrable to business environments..

Research Interests:

I interested in exploring the intersection of technology, humanities, education and business strategy, especially how innovative solutions can enhance outcomes and market reach. I think in order to do that type of role well you probably have to be a doctor or somebody who has 4 to 7 years research in the area to competitively contribute expertise effectively.

Image description

I believe that my background in both practical applications and research into LongPESTLE factors will contribute significantly to my studies on Global politics and society and Support my future research projects.

I look forward to discussing my experiences from the perspective of someone who got stuck in first, and then explored concepts and areas of new knowledge after in applied research to explore potential and expand initial research at a different point of intersection via applied research and by testing solutions in the real-world vs from a university campus!

I’ve been coding since school casually and did projects at university for websites showcasing music and video and have since worked in teams on enterprise level SDLC & QA as well as explore around 200 different individual folio projects, focusing on front end UI and also full stack development.

Image description

Since I’ve joined the University, I want to get involved with the Ai-labs externally and internally, as there are many other labs with various organisations and some of them are research organisations as well.

Image description

I have applied for a postgraduate research degree, at a point where I was bringing over 20 years of experience of IT, projects, and education, alongside formal certifications and experiential learning

going back to school has stopped me from “getting old” I suppose In the fluidity of my thinking since I’m always having to adapt to something new!

the advancement of technology for social good is central to my career & I want the Internet to be a safe place for future generations as I further deepen my expertise and contribute to innovation in my field with values of promoting lifelong learning and creating opportunities for people to balance work, family and education.

One example of a project is a CRM implementation for a social care organisation to automate workflows, reducing manual input by 40%. This project underscores my ability to connect technical solutions to organisational goals.

In other former projects, I have developed and/or tested UI for things like learning management systems (LMS) with the intention of integrating AV, VR/AR technology for educational adaptive learning experiences accommodating learning styles and biological humanistic factors. This project highlights technical ability and my passion for using technology to enhance effectiveness of education & educational outcomes.

My Experience supports my applications to higher education and to employers because it is supported by AEPL (Accreditation of Experiential Prior Learning) and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning), which validate the extensive length of exposure to practice and practical expertise along with applied research required to understand How to perform the role well - Forming a robust and deeply immersive form of Education that I have gained outside formal education Following my initial modules completed at three different universities and through training at business schools & business universities within my workplaces.

For example, I have been a mentor for  developers in learning communities On video calls and over email via coding black females, which honed my own development skills along with my ability to teach others.

I have also been part of AI research, presenting updates on progressions in the industry and across sectors Creating content and writing posts like this

But also to include things like the theory, practical implementation and structure of Technology sets or for example algorithms & their utilisations across various business use cases Which I have experienced and witnessed in person

Or in test QA as part of the software development life cycle working for several companies where I would have to assess best practices and research solutions within business contexts in the real world.

Image description

These experiences have provided me with skills directly applicable to Future working environments as well as Workplace -learning environments or the academic Environments at Universities, colleges and schools for example

Image description
my hands on experience helped me to develop critical problem-solving capabilities and build contextual awareness while also writing user guides to simplify the things I’ve learned.

I was constantly applying my writing skills and often reading literature & guides was helpful in speaking with Professionals at Business conferences or when writing reports on the service and various technologies which integrate amongst teams

but when reading data and analysis of this data in platform such as Salesforce CRM was really useful

This type of analysis enables me to assess various metrics within LongPESTLE environments requiring global considerations - my research here was useful for staying up-to-date with advancements in the industry, to make helpful suggestions and effectively consult companies and start-ups effectively and so that I , and they could adapt and remain competitive in the market.

I held formal qualifications through APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning) and ACPL (Accreditation of Certified Prior Learning) from my studies at Middlesex University, Roehampton and University of West London. But also via informal training

By modular learning at Middlesex, I gained critical technical foundations in music analysis

By modular learning at UWL I learned more about audio engineering, and software programmed to automate this

Some of which I have applied while on tech projects specifically in A/V industries such as broadcast media

But web conferencing and live events in auditoriums where lectures and conferences would take place in business environments were also test grounds.

At University of West London, I developed my project management skills, which later allowed me to support on multi-million-pound AV and IT deployments for international clients, including UBS Bank and Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Most of these global conglomerates and a large corporations obtain their budgets from the government or various investors and from other banks that loan them these amounts, I was able to research how they do that In terms of how it integrates into part of their project planning & partnerships because that’s what makes their projects possible & successful in the long run even though many companies could go into years of debt, The strategy enables them to make ROI.

In my work on automation, UX and AI, I have co-authored informative posts/ literature, including documents presented at meetings/ major tech conferences, where I explored the role of AI in finance,(quantum & security) CX and/or resource forecasting.

Image description

This has built my research and report-writing capabilities on the job working for companies like CWsquared, a start up I joined in the pandemic & charities like The Society for entrepreneurship and educational development where I tested business process automation using elements of AI and Salesforce Einstein abilities which could integrate with various clouds and a nonprofit pack

This type of job instringently links ethics and artificial intelligence but also extends into other academic areas of analysis demonstrating skills id utilise within my postgraduate-level study.

Leading mentoring and supporting in teams of tech professionals, ensuring that teams are supported to meet both technical and strategic business objectives required Initiative, a collaborative mindset and strong organisational skills.

I share a dedication to sustainability, particularly through my former work promoting green finance and climate friendly IT. For example, I’ve implemented energy-efficient AV and IT solutions as part of a team working at Ubs bank, reducing energy consumption in large-scale deployments.

My expertise in integrating smart technologies into green buildings in a very hands-on fashion from unboxing the kit to putting the components together and configuring its settings & remotely administering or triaging over communications networks navigating communications features etc reflects my commitment to using technology to foster sustainable practices & human interaction remotely, in house or across continents.

As a AV Engineer I needed to demonstrate intellectual rigour to analyse problems, understand underlying causes, and apply logical, often creative solutions. For example, during live events, or during C-level meetings I’d need to diagnose sound or display issues quickly and efficiently under pressure.

AV technology is rapidly evolving, and incorporates a lot of Ai with new software, hardware, and protocols regularly entering the field.

Staying at the forefront requires intellectual vigour, as one must continuously learn, adapt, and implement cutting-edge systems like virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and smart integration technologies.

This learning curve demands both mental energy and diligence with focus on research and innovation in addressing global challenges.

AV technicians/Engineers & Business folk must frequently adapt existing setups for new environments or innovate solutions for unique challenges & think outside the box, especially when off-the-shelf solutions aren’t available. This can include designing custom setups for atypical venues or integrating advanced control systems for interactive displays.

Rigorous adherence to industry standards, safety protocols, and technological best practices is non-negotiable especially in sensitive areas or where Electrical safety is paramount.

In summary, my experience has involved problem-solving, learning, planning, and executing high-precision tasks, cultivating theoretical & practical awareness alongside fast-paced technological advancements such as those presented by artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

My background includes a blend of formal education, vendor-specific training, and hands-on experience, all of which contribute to my readiness for advanced academic study & speaking.

Throughout my career, I have engaged in continuous learning through hands-on projects, industry certifications, and professional development. My training with leading vendors such as Crestron, Cisco, and AWS has provided me with advanced technical skills and knowledge. While these certifications may not offer UCAS credits, they are highly relevant to my field and showcase my commitment to staying current with industry standards.

My formal education, including studies in Audio Engineering, Business Management, and Technology, forms a solid foundation. I have completed significant coursework and certifications that, while not always directly tied to UCAS credit, demonstrate my ability to engage with complex concepts and apply them effectively.

Certifications from recognized bodies such as AWS, CompTIA, and PMI attest to my proficiency in cloud computing, project management, and IT fundamentals.

These certifications are evidence of my technical expertise and problem-solving abilities. Although they do not all provide UCAS credits, more is being done to recognise this time investment in cultivating expertise which is of value as they reflect a high level of commitment and achievement in my field, Some of these are now recognised enough to support my qualifications for admission to MA or PhD Postgraduate doctoral programs.

For example, my work with Polycom and Extron systems required a deep understanding of AV technologies and their application, validating my expertise in this domain. This experiential learning is integral to my academic preparation and aligns with VPL principles.

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL):
My extensive background in IT and AV systems, combined with professional certifications and hands-on experience, provides a robust basis for academic credit through CPL. This experience has equipped me with practical insights and problem-solving skills that are equivalent to formal academic achievements, supporting my application for advanced study.

In conclusion, my diverse learning experiences and professional achievements are aligned with the future of work according to recognition criteria.

I’m currently diving deeper and exploring how to integrate immersive AV into tech like VR and AR into learning environments to help Autistic individuals who require additional assistance or support.

I’m eager to connect, share knowledge, and collaborate on projects that make a difference.

Whether it’s discussing coding challenges, sharing resources, or brainstorming ideas for community initiatives, I’m here for it all!

Looking forward to learning from all of you and contributing to our shared goals.
