"For the developers, By the developers" is pretty popular phrase used by the developers these days and it somehow became the benchmark for the developers thinking and trusting it's the best software/web app in the market.
There are lots of copilot available in the market right now and many are working on making a breakthrough by the time you're reading this blog. But not every copilot is free to use to it's full extent which sometimes is very emotional after knowing you're bank account.
But Pieces is different. Pieces, an Ohio based company founded in 2020 by CEO Tsavo Knott, Chief Product Officer and Co-founder Mack Myers, and CTO and Founding Engineer Mark Widman. They recently changed the UI of their website from boring looking to new modern and minimal touch, hats off the designer who made this happen.
Pieces is an AI driven productivity tool designed to help developers organize, reuse, and share code snippets, notes, and resources efficiently. It offers plugins that you can use in your code editor like VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains, JupyterLab, Sublime Text and Neovim and if that's not enough there's more; CLI, Raycast, Microsoft Teams, Obsidian and chromium browsers Chrome, Brave, Opera, Firefox and Edge, which you can use in you daily productive life.
Pieces stands out by offering flagship LLM models—such as ChatGPT-4o, Clade, and Gemini—free of charge, models that typically require a subscription to access. Unlike other copilots or in-built IDE copilot, you can use these models as many times as you want for your project. And not only this, you can also install other open source LLM to your computer and use it offline.
Oh and did I mention that Pieces recently announced Long-term memory support for efficient workflow, meaning the live context became more better and much efficient that now it can smartly remember and organize your workflow and will remember it for you, incase you forgot about specific part.
