Introducing RefreshOS 1.23

Hello, my name is Jordan Tyler Burchett and I'd like to introduce the Dev community to RefreshOS...

RefreshOS is my design of an easy to use, resource efficient Linux distribution that's user friendly, easily adaptable, and stable.

RefreshOS 1.23 Desktop

RefreshOS 1.23 is based on Kubuntu 22.04 LTS which provides a very stable core and Canonical support until 2025.

I'm a very big KDE supporter and I chose the KDE Plasma desktop because it gives RefreshOS inherited features like desktop search and cell phone connection to the desktop thanks to KDE Connect.

This isn't your average KDE distro though!

What sets RefreshOS apart from any other?

The Avalon Menu

Avalon Menu

RefreshOS uses a customized version of the Avalon Menu as default over the Plasma Menu.

For me it just feels modern and sophisticated but classic and simple all together.

Polished

System Settings

I developed RefreshOS to be user friendly, quick, and clean, with a familiar GUI that's easy to use and easy to customize.

Familiar Apps

Chromium

I chose softwares that's familiar, trusted, and resource efficient. The 2 most important applications in a modern day operating system is the web browser and file manager. For this particular task I chose Chromium and Nemo.

Home / Office

LibreOffice

My focus was on home and small office so I included softwares such as: Chromium, Nemo, Deepin apps, LibreOffice, and GIMP
