Hello everyone,
I haven't written anything in a while, and my friend and I have some updates on the project. I’ve given him access to my AutoCAD files so he can work on them with me. He has more experience with the software, which should help speed things up. He is currently adding details to the image below and giving it a name—E.V.O T. Here’s a quick glimpse of that progress.
My friend is handling most of the heavy lifting with AutoCAD, while I’m assisting. Meanwhile, I’m focusing on programming the microcontrollers and other components we’ll be using. I have a joystick, a step motor, a driver, and will be adding a sonic sensor as well. The camera will arrive in about two days, and I’m excited to incorporate it into the project.
I want the turret to have two functions: one manual and one automatic, aka autonomous. The manual function will be controlled by us using the joystick.
The autonomous function will utilize the sonic sensor and camera. The sonic sensor will detect nearby activity, and the camera will be angled at head level to determine if the detected subject is a friend or foe.
For this project, I’m using the Arduino IDE and an ELEGOO UNO R3. Here’s a quick picture of me testing out the manual function.
That's all I have for today. My friend and I have been dedicating more time and creative thought to this project. Next time, I hope to have the camera and autonomous features coded and tested. Once that’s done, we can move on to soldering. My friend should have the neck of the turret detailed and ready, and the final step will be the main head of the turret.
Thank you all, and have a great one.
