This past weekend, I partcipated in Seoul Tech Impact 2024 as a hacker. This hackathon made me such a nice experience, more than nice, like perfect experience to me.
As non-binary and trying to veganism person, this hackathon made me feel nice and cozy. There were so many options in food such as halal, vegan, vegetarian. And especially, I was able to regain my identity as a non-binary. Before this event, my gender identity was get blurred to live without any gender minority problem, because Korea is such a homophobic and conservative in LGBTQIA+ people. But in this event, I could feel my gender identity is respect by COC and people.
I developed 'School Youth', which is helped korean's youth in school and out of school. I developed same project in last year. I tried to develop more and deploy this project, but it was stopped because of losing my motivation. This time, I tried my best to finish this project. This project's main function is crawling youth help center's information and show them in map.
But crawling and data modifying was hard to me, so I couldn't finish this project. I felt tough feeling about couldn't finish project. I almost gave up to submit this project and slide. But thanks to Lyla, I could submit my slides and speeched about mine.
Speech was so hard for me. I could not speech english like last year because of my medicine, so I freezed. so I talked about truth that actually I don't want to submit slides and speech. It was so hard to talk about that. As the period of job preparation continued with no end in sight, my self-esteem and confidence were very low. But somehow, someone applouded to me and after that, everyone applouded to me. I was surprised that I didn't expect reaction like this. I want to thank everyone at that time. I had compulsion to keep doing well about programming. But due to surprising applause, I could feel that I am ok even though I couldn't finish something well. Previously, I had thoughts like I'm ok, but after this, I can understand this in my heart.
Last year's Seoul Tech Impact was good, but this event was even better even though I played this alone. If I attend next year's Seoul Tech Impact, I would like to play with team, and I can be sure that experience will be much better than this year.
I can't tag everyone about all volunteers and organizers, but I am really want to thank all about opening and managing this amazing event run well.
