NOWADAYS, the better part of the new devs coming in every year are joining because IT grants a feel of freedom and happiness. At least compared to other promising careers, this is true. But to what degree?
People tend to believe that the amount of freedom we (DEVs) have is retirement level freedom (not that retirement is freedom), but this isn't true.
The amount of freedom a DEV actually has, depends on how good of a DEV the DEV wants to be. the more you want, the higher you want to achieve, the bigger you want to get, the less freedom you will have.
