It's not just that it's easier for people who don't understand docker, it's a community-supported resource that means every project you do will be using the same images. We use Ddev at my agency instead of our own previous Docker-wrapper (which was just a skeleton for a reverse proxy and database really) and things are easier to maintain now for people switching between projects.
