👋, I'm Nathan. I was homeschooled K-12, and really enjoyed my education experience! The sort of freedoms I was allowed growing up made my public schooled peers jealous, and was able to pursue all sorts of cool things. One of those things was programming.
I've been working on this idea since December of 2019.
Thinking about the state of public education and just about how learning / education even happens, I came to the conclusion that one of the big issues with learning just about anything is finding high quality content. If that's the case, then how do you even start without feeling like you're drowning in a sea of data? The internet is a good representation of that. You can learn just about anything, but you need to know what you're looking for, or know someone who knows. Libraries have always been around, too! Anyone can get a full education if only they knew what to do, what to read, what to focus on.
One great quote from Good Will Hunting. Will, talking to a Harvard student:
You wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for $1.50 in late fees at the public library
The widely accepted idea of how education happens is through "professionals" and those who hold the keys.
The month you were born puts you in a specific grade, The arbitrary starting point and ending point have no bearing on reality. Grades do not determine the cognitive abilities of a student.
The Traditional model is to leave it to the professionals
A child’s abilities should not be determined by their birthday, a grade, or by a system that prioritizes achievements over learning and discovery. Schools don't tend to incentivize anything that doesn't look like a head-start or specialization
The fundamental building blocks of learning have been around for thousands of years.
Education isn't a black box held behind closed doors by "professional educators". It's just a tool that can be used by ANYONE.

It's kinda interesting how the entire world just happened to homeschool this year right after I quit my job and dedicated all my time and effort to this product.
