OpenProject is an open source project management tool.
At a 2024 offsite event for its employees, OpenProject asked:
How would you describe working here?
Here's what they said...
"I like building stuff."
"All employees have a say."
"I feel alive working here."
"It's all about how we treat our customers and the community."
"It's how our software helped someone become good in what they do."
"We have colleagues from all around the world."
"We're a global team working for an international customer base."
"Your word is being heard; I like that a lot."
"You work with people you like and respect."
"We value everybody's work."
"We want to reach a higher good."
"Family."
COO, Robin Wagner, recently said:
"We are intentional about how we hire and form relationships with our employees. Remote-first also allows OpenProject to hire the best people from around the globe, and it allows us to be present in different time zones. It’s a win-win."
The company is fully remote now, and some of the employees work together in the Berlin office regularly. To unite the whole company, they hold offsite gatherings focused on getting to know each other. Employees from around Europe, the US, Central America, and Africa made the trek.
"It means so much to all of us to get to know each other on a human level," said Robin.
