Netgear Nighthawk X65 is one of the most promising wireless extenders to fill in the cracks in your home WiFi network. It's a tri-band extender with mesh technology that has adequate power to cover all the bothersome dead zones.
But in case you're looking for something small that plugs unobtrusively in a wall socket, X65 EX8000 won't be your love at first sight. In fact, it has a size as of a full-blown router and a physique that makes it tricky to hide within your home décor items.
Yet the unusual size of this extender is perfectly justified with its performance. Unlike the most Wi-Fi extenders, Nighthawk EX8000 possess intrinsic tri-band distribution. In which the 2.4 GHz band is partnered along with the two 5Ghz bands, one among these takes care of back-end communications with the router and other band broadcasts the boosted network.
And the results speak from themselves. It is the top performer for 5Ghz performance in every corner of the premise with providing a full bandwidth speed. However, 2.4 GHz performance is just satisfactory but overall this bleeding-edge gadget has managed to leave every other comparable wireless extender into the dust.
So if you're considering purchasing one, here's the guide for your Netgear extender Setup.
Netgear Nighthawk X65 EX8000 Setup
Netgear EX8000 mesh extender setup can be executed either via installation assistant or using the WPS. Let's delve into each so that you can go with the best one.
Setup via Installation Assistant
Connect the extender to the power supply.
Ensure that there is the least possible distance between the router and the extender.
Now press the "power" button.
Now link your computer – laptop or PC to the extender through a WiFi or wired connection.
For WiFi connection, turn on the Wi-Fi manager and search for the available wireless networks.
Tap on the extender network's SSID. Mostly it is of the form - NETGEAR_EXT.
Once your computer is connected with the extender's network, the client LED on the extender will glow white.
For the wired connection, use an Ethernet cable to connect the Ethernet port of the extender to the Ethernet port of the computer.
After the connection, launch a web-browser such as Chrome or Firefox and navigate to mywifiext.
This web address will take you to the Netgear installation assistant.
Further, execute the on-screen prompts to connect the extender to the existing network.
Use the Link status LED to place your extender in the most suitable spot, that is exactly in the midway of the distance between the router and the area with least Wi-Fi connectivity.
In case the Link status LED denotes a poor connection, move the extender near to the router.
Once you get to the appropriate spot, you're all set to connect the client device to the extended network and start surfing.
Tip: You can also use Netgear Genie setup for the choosing the adequate location of the extender.
Check the power LED, it should be lit now.
If the power LED doesn't glow, restart your extender.
Connecting Using WPS
For WPS setup, first place the extender as much as near to the router.
• Now press the WPS button on both – router and the extender simultaneously.
• Repeat the process if you don't see a solid white light on the Link status LED.
• Thereafter, you can start internet surfing using the extended wireless network.
• Connect it to the power supply and let the power LED lit.
Note: After the setup, your extender will use the same network settings as your router has for 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz networks. For any queries, feel free to comment in the comment section below.
