How Do You Handle Product Specs?

I once knew a product manager who made infographics out of all their specs. This was obviously a time consuming process. It took him hours to do what could normally be done in minutes.

It obviously made team communication easier (and more fun). The savings in meeting time alone may not have made that investment worth it, but I believe it also reduced miscommunication which meant less time was spent by developers building the wrong thing.

I've never seen anyone else do this though. What are your opinions of this approach? How do you normally see your product specs written up?
