Why Ai? We need it?

Lets start with a report.

It was the title of IBM report 2023: Data Suggests Growth in Enterprise Adoption of AI is Due to Widespread Deployment by Early Adopters, But Barriers Keep 40% in the Exploration and Experimentation Phases. Around 42% enterprise-sacle companies deploying AI in their business and 40% currently exploring. But However, 59% of those companies surveyed already exploring or deploying AI say they have accelerated their rollout or investments in the technology. The top barriers preventing deployment include limited AI skills and expertise (33%), too much data complexity (25%), and ethical concerns (23%).

What is AI?

Who is created AI?

The field of AI officially began in 1956 at the Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence, organized by John McCarthy in 1955. McCarthy is considered the father of Artificial Intelligence.

Alan Turing's work, "Computer Machinery and Intelligence," introduced The Turing Test, used to measure computer intelligence, popularizing the term "artificial intelligence."

In India, Professor H.N. Mahabala in the 1960s and the creation of Knowledge-Based Computing Systems (KBCS) in 1986 by UNDP helped India focus on AI.

The earliest successful demonstration of machine learning was in 1952 with "Shopper," written by Anthony Oettinger at the University of Cambridge, running on the EDSAC computer.

Shopper's simulated world was a mall of eight shops, using memorization to optimize future searches.

In the United States, the first AI program ran in a course where Newell, Simon, and Shaw developed Information Processing Language (IPL), featuring a flexible data structure called a list.

Python, invented in the late 1980s by Guido van Rossum, became the language of choice for AI programming due to its simplicity, versatility, and adaptability, surpassing Java in popularity and boasting numerous advantages.

While the advancement of AI undoubtedly enhances quality of life, it also necessitates the establishment of bioethical committees to mitigate potential risks and misuse. Regular meetings of such committees can analyze and address the ethical implications of AI, ensuring its responsible and beneficial integration into society.What is future possibilities?

What is the great threat?

Geoffrey Hinton, hailed as the godfather of artificial intelligence, outlines several significant dangers associated with AI technology. These include the potential for job loss due to automation, the proliferation of deepfakes, privacy breaches, algorithmic bias stemming from flawed data, socioeconomic disparities, market instability, weapons automation, and the prospect of uncontrollable, self-aware AI.

One of the challenges with AI lies in its opacity; even experts may struggle to comprehend the inner workings of AI and deep learning models. This lack of transparency makes it difficult to understand how AI reaches its conclusions, leaving users in the dark about the data and processes involved.

The specter of widespread job automation looms large as AI gains traction across various industries like marketing, manufacturing, and healthcare. McKinsey predicts that by 2030, up to 30 percent of current working hours in the U.S. economy could be affected, potentially leading to the loss of millions of jobs. While AI is anticipated to create new job opportunities, there's also concern about the displacement of workers in fields like law and accounting.

AI's capacity for social manipulation is a troubling reality, exemplified by politicians exploiting platforms like TikTok to sway public opinion. Moreover, AI's encroachment on privacy and security is evident in instances such as China's widespread use of facial recognition technology and U.S. police departments adopting predictive policing algorithms.

The issue of bias in AI systems extends beyond gender and race, encompassing data and algorithmic biases that can perpetuate discrimination. Without addressing these biases, AI-powered tools like recruitment algorithms risk undermining diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
