I am a third-year student pursuing my Bachelor's from Jaypee University of Information Technology.
I came to know about this amazing program called Crio Winter of Doing(CWoD) a few days before its commencement. There is no better platform for developers to get their journey started. I was looking for internships when I stumbled upon this opportunity.
What is CWoD?
CWoD is India's largest tech externship program for developers organized by Crio. It is a one-of-a-kind program focussed on bringing together budding engineering talent to work on challenging projects for the most exciting startups in the country like CRED, Groww, Jumbotail, aws, recko, slice, vicara, etc.
CWoD provides the participants with some hands-on modules from which they can learn and gain some skills. The program is divided into three stages - stage 1, stage 2, and stage 3. All three stages consist of different skillsets that a developer must-have. For participating in the CWoD one has to apply through their official website and answer a few basic questions. Also, the program is 100% free!
The kickoff of the program was scheduled for 9th January 2021 at 6 pm. Before the kickoff, all the participants were invited to join the community's slack and the telegram channel so that we get to introduce ourselves and the community can bond. All the participants were warmly welcomed into the community and their questions were answered by Team Crio.
The first session i.e. the kickoff of CWoD was streamed on YouTube between 6 pm to 8 pm.
The introductory session was hosted by Ajay Ravindra sir. He started off with the welcome note. He walked us through the details of the program and how are we going to proceed. Stage 1 is more of a warm-up, scheduled from 9th January to 16th January. It consists of working on Complete Crio's hands-on learning modules and picking up essential developer skills (HTTP + REST API + Linux), demystifying Cloud with a Cloud 101 Masterclass and a Crio learning module on AWS, getting acquainted with Full-Stack development by building beautiful portfolios for ourselves.
After the introductory section, Sridher Jeyachandran sir told us about HTTP and how to go through the hands-on module for the same.
For day 1, I was able to complete the HTTP module which was not only exhaustive enough for a developer to be able to work with it but also was created in a very easy-to-understand way.
Now, for the day 2 session we tried some hands-on exercises with REST API and went through its modules with Sridher Jeyachandran sir.
For day 3 we had the Big Variable Series Talk with Binny Bansal (Co-founder @Flipkart). This session proved to be really helpful as we got to learn a lot about the entrepreneurial journey.
"You have to see failure as the beginning and the middle, but never entertain it as an end." -Jessica Herrin, founder, and CEO of Stella & Dot
For day 4 a Big Variable Series Talk is scheduled with Vivek Ravisankar (Co-Founder @Hackerrank).
Day 5 is all about Linux and Git, two very important tools that a developer must have in his/ her tech stack.
Day 7 is about cloud and gaining some hands-on experience with AWS.
For days 8 and 9 we will be getting started with the full stack development and will work on creating beautiful portfolios for ourselves.
CWoD is a Micro-experience program and its focus is Learn by Doing. Crio has provided such micro-experience programs to many developers at various companies like Flipkart, etc. so that they can get hands-on experience.
You will get a chance to interact and help fellow community members so make sure you do that because that is how a community grows. I have already learned a lot through this program and I hope that Crio keeps on organizing such amazing programs so that developers use this opportunity and improve their skillsets.
