Informal Learning of Programming Online: a Survey

Online learners are alone in front of numerous learning challenges. I did a survey to understand these challenges. See link bellow.

No one argues the difficulty of programming, the prevalence of the trial-and-error approach, and the necessity for self-directed learning. Although we have a wealth of information online that permits self-directed learning, but learners still starving for guidance and to get help from peers; this is not surprising; learning is not only by watching and reading resources; there is a part that fulfilled and grow by observing a peer model to show us what we can possibly be successful at. An in-depth understanding of programming learners on social media is still limited ,especially for novices and non-CS majors, who learn for various reasons.

In order to get an initial understanding of the informal learning experience, I did a survey; the initial findings so far show that employed people are the most motivated learners to pursue informal learning online because it is relevant to their jobs. Also, Reddit users were the most willing to help in the surveys. A small number came from Twitter, Telegram and WhatsApp. Twitch and Discord users did not participate at all.

If you feel this project (which still it its early stage) is interesting, find the links below and thanks in advance!
