Quick tip: Monitoring SingleStoreDB Cloud using Datadog

Abstract

The preview phase of Datadog monitoring for SingleStoreDB Cloud is currently underway. Customers looking to explore and utilise this feature can initiate Datadog cloud monitoring by contacting SingleStore. By requesting activation of the feature flag, interested customers can use this functionality. This article provides quick instructions on integrating the monitoring once the feature is enabled.

Introduction

In a previous article, we saw how to integrate Datadog with a standalone installation of SingleStoreDB. The integration for SingleStoreDB Cloud is even simpler to install. Let's see how.

Create a SingleStoreDB Cloud account

A previous article showed the steps to create a free SingleStoreDB Cloud account. We'll use Datadog Demo Group as our Workspace Group Name and datadog-demo as our Workspace Name. When creating the Workspace, we'll enable the MarTech Application so that we have some metrics to collect.

Create a free Datadog account

The steps to create a free Datadog account were described in a previous article.

Create the Datadog integration

After logging in to Datadog, on the left-hand navigation pane we'll select Integrations > Integrations. In the search bar, we'll enter SingleStoreDB. The SingleStoreDB Cloud integration should appear. We'll choose the integration and click + INSTALL.

Next, we'll click the button marked Install Integration. Once installed, we'll need to authorise SingleStoreDB Cloud to access Datadog. This can be achieved by clicking the button marked Connect Accounts. This will take us to the SingleStoreDB Cloud portal and we'll select Datadog Demo Group from the list and click Create. Then we'll authorise the access.

Next, from the left-hand navigation pane in Datadog, we'll select Dashboards > Dashboard List > All Dashboards > SingleStoreDB Cloud Overview.

We should see various widgets showing metrics, as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3.

There is additional documentation on the SingleStore website and the Datadog website. Also, check out a blog post and video for further details.

Summary

Datadog is a popular monitoring service and now supports SingleStoreDB Cloud. It's easy to set up and configure, as we've seen in this article.
