The Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) leads the development and growth of Stellar, an open-source blockchain network you can use as a backend to power all kinds of apps and services. It has built-in logic for creating accounts, signing transactions, and tracking balances, and anyone can use it to issue, store, transfer, and trade all sorts of assets.

The network handles millions of transactions each day submitted by businesses, banks, governments and developers all over the world to create and move value faster, more cost-effective, and open up access for a wider audience (more inclusive) than the current financial system.

Once you have a high-level understanding of Stellar, you can start building right away. You don’t have to run your own Stellar Core node to develop on Stellar — instead, you can start building with your programming language of choice!

In the documentation (https://developers.stellar.org/docs), read through how the Stellar Stack works, explore helpful tutorials, investigate the SDKs, and familiarize yourself with the canonical List of Operations, which documents everything you can do with Stellar. Finally, you can explore the API Reference documentation, which details every resource provided by Horizon, the Stellar API.
