0. Why AWS Amplify
AWS Amplify is so useful service and tool.
"Private Image Post Service" is required below functions.
- Authentication
- Item management
- Storage
AWS Amplify meets these requirements.
And it is "Serverless" framework, so we don't need to manage the instances.
1. Setup
- Vue CLI (+ Vuetify)
- Amplify CLI
1.1 Vue CLI
Install "Vue CLI".
$ vue -V
@vue/cli 4.5.12
$
1.2 Amplify CLI
Install "Amplify CLI".
$ amplify -v
Scanning for plugins...
Plugin scan successful
4.46.1
$
1.3 Create Vue project
vue create amplify-image-upload
$ vue create amplify-image-upload
Vue CLI v4.5.12
? Please pick a preset: Manually select features
? Check the features needed for your project: Choose Vue version, Babel, Router, Linter
? Choose a version of Vue.js that you want to start the project with 2.x
? Use history mode for router? (Requires proper server setup for index fallback in production) Yes
? Pick a linter / formatter config: Prettier
? Pick additional lint features: Lint on save
? Where do you prefer placing config for Babel, ESLint, etc.? In dedicated config files
? Save this as a preset for future projects? No

π Successfully created project amplify-image-upload.
π Get started with the following commands:
$ cd amplify-image-upload
$ yarn serve
$ cd amplify-image-upload
$ vue add vuetify

$
1.4 Setup Amplify project
amplify init
$ amplify init
Note: It is recommended to run this command from the root of your app directory
? Enter a name for the project amplifyimageupload
? Enter a name for the environment dev
? Choose your default editor: Visual Studio Code
? Choose the type of app that you're building javascript
Please tell us about your project

Adding backend environment dev to AWS Amplify Console app: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
β Initializing project in the cloud...

β Initialized provider successfully.
Initialized your environment successfully.
Your project has been successfully initialized and connected to the cloud!
Some next steps:
"amplify status" will show you what you've added already and if it's locally configured or deployed
"amplify add <category>" will allow you to add features like user login or a backend API
"amplify push" will build all your local backend resources and provision it in the cloud
"amplify console" to open the Amplify Console and view your project status
"amplify publish" will build all your local backend and frontend resources (if you have hosting category added) and provision it in the cloud
Pro tip:
Try "amplify add api" to create a backend API and then "amplify publish" to deploy everything
$
Add UI Components.
$ yarn add aws-amplify @aws-amplify/ui-vue
And, edit src/main.js
to include AWS Amplify.
src/main.js
import Vue from 'vue'
import App from './App.vue'
import router from './router'
import store from './store'
import vuetify from './plugins/vuetify'
import '@aws-amplify/ui-vue'
import Amplify from 'aws-amplify'
import awsconfig from './aws-exports'
Amplify.configure(awsconfig)
Vue.config.productionTip = false
new Vue({
router,
store,
vuetify,
render: (h) => h(App),
}).$mount('#app')
2. Add Auth
Add Authentication.
amplify add auth
$ amplify add auth
Using service: Cognito, provided by: awscloudformation
The current configured provider is Amazon Cognito.
Do you want to use the default authentication and security configuration? Default configuration
Warning: you will not be able to edit these selections.
How do you want users to be able to sign in? Username
Do you want to configure advanced settings? No, I am done.
Successfully added auth resource amplifyimageuploadXXXXXXXX locally
Some next steps:
"amplify push" will build all your local backend resources and provision it in the cloud
"amplify publish" will build all your local backend and frontend resources (if you have hosting category added) and provision it in the cloud
$
Push project.
amplify push
$ amplify push
β Successfully pulled backend environment dev from the cloud.

3. Add API
Add API(GraphQL) for Item management.
amplify add api
$ amplify add api
? Please select from one of the below mentioned services: GraphQL
? Provide API name: amplifyimageupload
? Choose the default authorization type for the API Amazon Cognito User Pool
Use a Cognito user pool configured as a part of this project.
? Do you want to configure advanced settings for the GraphQL API No, I am done.
? Do you have an annotated GraphQL schema? No
? Choose a schema template: Single object with fields (e.g., βTodoβ with ID, name, description)
The following types do not have '@auth' enabled. Consider using @auth with @model
- Todo
Learn more about @auth here: https://docs.amplify.aws/cli/graphql-transformer/auth

<style scoped>
amplify-s3-image {

5.2 Point
Main logic is in "Item.vue".
For management the items, we create a record:
const createdItem = await API.graphql(
graphqlOperation(createItem, {
input: {
name: this.uploadFile.name,
},
}),
)
When we upload to Storage, write this:
await Storage.put(createdItem.data.createItem.id, this.uploadFile, {
level: 'private',
contentType: this.uploadFile.type,
})
level: 'private'
means "when you upload the image, only you can see it".
There are 2 ways to show the image from Storage.
"Get by Library" is here:
item.url = await Storage.get(item.id, {
level: 'private',
})
"Get by Library" is get authenticated-url from Storage.
This is simple way. But we should resolve about "async/await".
I think, it's little bit complex.
But, this way makes the UI more expressive.
Another ("Get by UI Component") is here:
<amplify-s3-image
width="100%"
class="d-flex justify-center"
:img-key="item.id"
level="private"
@click="dialog.value = false"
/>
"Get by UI Component" is more simple.
Just use <amplify-s3-image>
tag.
But, this way becomes less expressive power of the UI.
