Personal Introduction and Collection of Suggestions for a New Web Developer/Programmer

Hello everyone, my name is Tobias and I'm a new apprentice programmer (<1 month).

I'm taking free Responsive Web Design classes on the freeCodeCamp website and I'm really enjoying it so far.
But from the beginning until now, I've noticed that what were otherworldly things to me (like coding a simple string) I now have some knowledge of.
The question is that I'm in doubt as to whether I should stick to the Responsive Web Design course or try something on my own, like using Frameworks to help me develop something more particular like an open source project or whatever.

The aim of this post is really to gather opinions, especially from those who have already been down this road, to show your personal opinion on what you would recommend to a person like me or others who are in the same situation as me.

I know that there aren't only ways and that this is a very subjective/particular answer, but recommendations from more experienced people are always welcome.

In any case, I'm already very happy to have started this journey and for everything I've been able to learn so far from this world.
