Virtual Machine: A virtual machine is like a computer inside a computer. It is a computer that is based on software and has its own operating system and applications.
A software-based version of a Windows 11 machine that runs on your current computer or in the cloud is called a Windows 11 Virtual Machine (VM). It provides flexibility, remote access, a secure environment for testing or work, and the entire Windows 11 experience without the need for additional hardware.
- Step 1: Create a free trial account in Azure
- Step 2: Login to Azure Account (portal.azure.com)
- Step 3: In the "Search resources, services and docs" field, type “virtual machines”. From the list of search results, click on the “Virtual machine” option.
- Step 4: Click the “Create” button to start the virtual machine creation process.
- Step 5: Then click on azure virtual machine
- Step 6: Select the appropriate subscription and create a resource group by clicking the create resource group button and giving it a name.
- Step 7: Enter details about the virtual machine we’re creating. Provide information about our virtual machine, such as the name of the Virtual Machine, the operating system, size, and other configuration settings.
- Step 8: Create an Administrator Account. We need a username and a password in case we need to connect to the Virtual Machine
- Step 9: Select the inbound port rule as RDP for our windows VM. (This is needed just incase we want to connect to the virtual machine as it will allow IP address to connect to the VM created.)
- Step 10: Check the licensing. By default, this is unchecked, click the box to have it checked
- Step 11: Click “Next” till we get to boot diagnostics in the Monitoring tab, and click on “disable”.
- Step 12: Click on “Review + Create” button, if the validation passes, the deployment will go on if not take not of any recommendation, fix and try again.
- Step 13: Wait for the deployment to be completed.
- Step 14: To access the VM click on Go to resource button
- Step 15: Check the Status. If the VM is running then the task has succeeded. Once the virtual machine has been deployed, we can access it by clicking on the "Connect" button.
- Step 16: Click Native RDP and click on select and wait for configured sign to be displayed on the right hand side
- Step 17: Download the RDP file
- Step 18: Open the RDP file from local computer & click on “connect”. Enter the Admin details created during the process of creating the VM.
- Step 19: Follow the prompt and on click continue. Wait for the remote pc to be configured. Connection is successful, start using the virtual machine.
Conclusion
Creating a Windows 11 Virtual Machine on Azure is one of the most effective ways to use the cloud for flexibility, experimentation, and productivity. Azure makes setting up and managing your virtual machines simple, regardless of your level of experience with virtualization or your desire for a scalable, secure workspace. From almost anywhere, you may use a few simple steps to fully utilize Windows 11. Why wait, then?
