Login into postgres:

psql --user postgres --password

To list users:

postgres=# \du

To add a user:

postgres=# CREATE ROLE my_current_OS_user WITH LOGIN PASSWORD 'Pa$$w0rd'; 

And grant createDB privilege:

ALTER ROLE my_current_OS_user CREATEDB
