Hi guys, I'd like to create an open-source CMS similar to https://www.storyblok.com/.
Why?
I want to help devs and companies to get rid off Wordpress.
Everybody nowdays want some intuitive drag-drop interface like Shopify or any other Visual Editor, but NOT with WP.
For a simple company website, you will need at least 10 plugins, that will affect your website speed and performace... and who knows the security which these plugins offer..
Is it a good idea? Is there a new place on the market for the CMS?
Thanks, share you opinion.

The common problem I have is that :
Clients comes to me and asks me, I want to delete wordpress and have anotehr cms for my websites, but all the good ones costs me +200$/month.
So that's the main reason I want to help people and companies, save money and focus on developing a open-source alternative.
I share the same frustration with wanting to migrate my current WordPress site; it's just such a headache.
A framework-independent visual editor to integrate existing frameworks would be most interesting. There are already more than enough solutions on the market, but they are often not easy to adopt.
I find this project very interesting and I'm eager to contribute. The SaaS plan has my particular attention. Please let me know how I can be of assistance."
will keep you updated, for sure :D
I don't want to spoil the party (someone needs to be a pessimist right?) but I'd think twice, with respect to the common market saturation with the similar solutions. But of course, if you have a brilliant creative outstanding idea of implementation in mind, something that would be different with obvious winning points, and you have a good team to work on that faster and better than the others, I'd say why not.
Absolutely! Creating an open-source CMS with a focus on an intuitive drag-and-drop interface is a commendable initiative. The challenges you've highlighted with existing platforms like WordPress, including the dependence on numerous plugins impacting speed, performance, and security, resonate with many developers and companies.
Is it a good idea?
Yes, it's a great idea! There's a definite need for user-friendly content management systems that prioritize simplicity without compromising on essential factors like security and performance. Your vision aligns with the current trends where businesses seek alternatives to traditional platforms that can streamline the website development process.
Is there a new place on the market for the CMS?
Absolutely! The CMS market is dynamic, and there's always room for innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of users. As long as your open-source CMS can offer a unique value proposition, such as improved performance, enhanced security, and a more intuitive interface, there's a potential niche waiting to be filled.
