As per my thoughts, For being a solo developer, it is important to have feedback on your code so, you can make it better and open sourcing is a great practice to explore the world of different minds who are coding differently. Having a GitHub account and contributing to open source will let you do that.
Let me know what do you think about it?

Are you asking about online git repositories generally or just one such service? I only share code via GitLab (as in .com), I'd expect coders to all have preferred platforms. And of course there's a lot more code management systems than just Git.
Yeah, I was talking about online git repos. Which platform would you prefer in 2022 to host your git repos online? what about GitHub? and yeah there are lot more code management systems to be preferred according to your luxury :D
Well, I think there is possible have nice programmers without a GitHub account, someone could live in dev world having different experience. For my developer cycle, I don't know who don't have Github account. I think it's importante to have one, but it's note a rule. It's so easy have one account and publish some study codes. If someone doesn't have, please make one! :D
Loved your way to express, Gustavo :xD
Thank you :D
I have no opinion on a developer without a github account. "Having a GitHub account and contributing to open source" are two separate things.
I could make a bunch of assumptions, but I bet they'd be wrong!
Perhaps they contribute to open source but they don't trust Microsoft. Perhaps they have accounts on every other git hosting service. Or maybe they use a different VCS. Who knows?
I agree with you Ben, your point is valid. But yeah, we are just assuming how many of them must be using GitHub for SC hosting or for open source contributions as it's quite competing the market.
Gnome developer uses GitLab. WordPress developer uses its own track.
