Dark patterns in web UX are design features that are subtly designed to get the user to perform a specific action.
Cookie consent banners are one of the classic examples of dark patterns because they want the user to click accept, so they make rejecting them as annoying and tedious as possible.
Considering this, we wanted to see how blatantly annoying we could make cookie consent banners, which is why we set up THE MOST ANNOYING COOKIE BANNER HACKATHON.
With the deadline past, and submissions now in, we thought we'd present you with a showcase of some of the cookie banners our participants came up with.
BTW, We're allowing the community to vote on winners in an elimination style tournament on Twitter/X, starting Wednesday October 23rd.
Everyday we will post two cookie banners and you get to vote for who you think should move on to the next round
