Been a developer is quite hard in this our contemporary world, there are lots of distractions and events that can cause one to loose motivation and the will power to continue in the journey of software development. I have read about many developers who lost motivation and gave up on their coding journey.
Motivation is one key factor that every developer needs to continue their coding journey amidst myriads of challenges. Below are some key points that can help a developer to remain motivated.
☀️ ALWAYS SEEK TO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO PEOPLE'S CHALLENGES:
Many developers joined the world of software development because of diverse reasons, some joined because of the financial gains while some others joined because it's what's trending.
The reason why you start a thing will surely determine how far you are willing to go to continue with that thing. There is a kind of inexplicable joy that resonates within a person when that person provide solutions to other people's problem.
That kind of joy can keep the fire of motivation burning for a long time.
Always seek to provide solutions and watch as the solution that you provide helps to better the life of others.
☀️ SPEND TIME ON MEDITATION:
A lot of developers are so busy developing software, writing codes, technical articles, attending and speaking in conferences that they fail to spend quality time on meditation.
Meditation involves reflection.
Meditation refreshes the mind and helps to birth new ideas.
It helps to unleash peace within a person.
It also helps to relieve one of some unnecessary burden. As a developer, always create time to meditate, take some minutes off this noisy and busy world and unleash peace within you through meditation, you need that peace to continue in your journey as a developer.
☀️ CREATE TIME TO REST:
The workload of a developer is quite very intense. Developers are among the most busy set of individuals, they're always busy coding, attending conferences, writing technical articles, documentations, books, blog posts, creating YouTube videos and much more that they hardly spend quality time to rest(sleep).
According to medical research, the body needs at least 7-8 hours of quality sleep to perform optimally.
When you don't create time to rest, your body begins to Lag, your brain power reduces and your motivation diminishes drastically.
Having good rest every day helps to boost your energy flow and motivation.
☀️ CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESS:
A lot of developers put so much pressure on themselves because of the things that they want to achieve and they fail to celebrate the things that they have achieved.
Always learn to celebrate your success no matter how small it might appear to be. Success in any area can really spur you on into achieving even more.
In the midst of challenges, look back at your success and say to yourself "if I could achieve this level of success, I can achieve even more".
☀️ PEN DOWN YOUR GOALS AND ALWAYS READ THEM ALOUD EVERY MORNING:
There are many important things that you want to achieve as a developer, it's always wise to write down those goals and read them aloud every day.
Review the goals, identify the ones that you have achieved and consider the consequences of your not been able to achieve them, this helps you to stay motivated.
☀️ JOIN A CODING COMMUNITY:
Joining an encouraging coding community can boost your motivation by 10X. The power of a positive coding community cannot be overemphasized.
Since I joined a coding community like https://dev.to and read tweets from other developers on Twitter, my motivation to continue on this path has greatly increased.
In a community, you will find different categories of developers ranging from beginners, experts, those experiencing the same challenges as you are and also those who have surmounted those challenges, all come together to encourage and assist one another, this keeps your motivation intact.
Leverage on the power of a good coding community and accelerate your career.
At every point of your coding journey, always remain motivated, don't allow those bugs, errors and other challenges to put you down. Learn to always reach out for help.
KEEP ON CODING, KEEP ON BUILDING SOFTWARE, KEEP ON MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.
REMAIN EVER MOTIVATED!
