By focusing on my writing skills. Writing in remote teams is a great skill to have. I thrive in communicating my designs, blockers or opinions through written form. Of course there are challenges when words can be misinterpreted. In such circumstances, it is important to identify it quickly and suggest alternative mode of communication.
"Let's have a quick call" gives me instant anxiety being the millenial that I am but truth be told it often works - especially for code reviews because those are just brutal in text.
We use gather and play casual online games every once in a while. We arenβt forced to be in the office or socialise hence we do it when we feel like instead.
I can't.
No one ever ends up seeing what I put, anywhere. D:
Iβve seen this comment you put here π
We have office days once every two weeks (yes..) and those tend to be the least productive on paper but that's because it's catching-up day. Not just work but also casual chit-chat. I feel that's important too.
Getting on a call helps sometimes but I prefer to limit that because it can really interrupt focussed work.
I also try to find some contact outside of work, preferably outside the IT bubble. I get my share of that with a book club, meetups, by working as a Red Cross volunteer and also activism.
