"Remembering Aaron Swartz" from Endless Thread 🎧

Content Warning: this post and the podcast episode contain mentions of suicide. Please take care while listening.

I wanted to share this episode for anyone who's interested in reflecting on the life and legacy of Aaron Swartz, who passed 10 years ago this week. Swartz is credited with assisting in the development of RSS, Creative Commons licensing, Markdown, the web.py framework, and Reddit.

I found the episode insightful, emotional, and powerful to hear. Would love to hear your thoughts after listening.

In this episode of Endless Thread, co-hosts Amory Sivertson and Ben Brock Johnson honor the legacy of internet activist Aaron Swartz with two people familiar with his life and work: documentary filmmaker Brian Knappenberger and Cindy Cohn of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Swartz died by suicide ten years ago this week, on January 11, 2013, at the age of 26.

He was the Internets own..... what a godawful ending ....
they recently made it law that no public funded research paper could be placed behind a pay wall ... small consolation but a fitting honour .... it's named after him
