Listen to Our New Podcast: "On The Board"

Hey folks!

Just a quick announcement to let y'all know that Jason McDonald (@codemouse92) and I recently started up a podcast about job searching called On The Board.

In it, we interview folks who have successfully found jobs (mostly in tech) over the past year or two. We generally ask them about their experience of being out of work, what insights they learned while applying to different places, and what advice they have for current job seekers. Notably, we interview a variety of folks who hold different positions... we're several episodes in now and have spoken with Developers, HR Representatives, Product Managers, Community Managers, and Security Advisors, all of whom have unique stories to tell and insights to share.

Our shows are typically ~30 minutes and can be watched in video form on YouTube or listened to on Spotify. Also, you can find us here on LinkedIn — we'd greatly appreciate it if you'd give us a follow!

On The Board Podcast | 15 followers on LinkedIn. The current professional job market is more challenging than ever, and social media is flooded with dubious advice. The "On The Board" podcast cuts through the noise, interviewing ordinary professionals who have actually found work in this unprecedented market.

Finally, Jason is logging each of our releases in a series here on DEV. You can follow along if you'd like to stay up on new episodes as they come out. Here's the first post in the series here on DEV:

We hope you'll tune in and please let us know what you think about the show. We always appreciate feedback!

That sounds amazing Michael!

I'm already subscribed on YouTube and I follow on LinkedIn. Growing in these things usually take time, and a lot of persistence, so keep on the hard work! 💪🏽

Whenever I can I'll try to help.

Cool guitars BTW 🫣

And you're totally right, I think it's gonna take a bit of time to really find our flow and build a following, but it's been really fun! Really appreciate the encouragement and offer to help!

Thanks, Erik! It's been really fun and good for my personal growth. 😀

As a first-time podcaster, it's helping me to get a bit more comfortable as a host/interviewer. And, by interviewing different folks, it's also similarly helping me with my job interviews... I'm regularly meeting new people, have to pay close attention to the conversation and adapt, and everything is done under pressure because it's being filmed.

And of course, because of the premise of the podcast, I'm able to get lots and lots of firsthand advice from recently employed ex-jobhunters! There's so much wisdom to be gained from asking questions and listening to these folks. 🧠

Anywho, I hope others out there find it interesting and helpful, but regardless of whether we build up an audience, I feel like I'm getting a lot outta the experience!
