A timeline is a display of a list of activities or events in chronological order. Timeline is typically a graphic representation, showing a long bar labelled with dates, title or description paralleling it. Here we will create timeline in React.
Create Timeline Component in React
const timelineData = [
{
text: 'Started React Tutorials',
date: 'February 25 2022',
category: {
tag: 'react-tutorials',
color: '#FFDB14'
},
link: {
url: 'https://w3courses.org/',
text: 'View'
}
},
{
text: 'Started Laravel Tutorials',
date: 'March 04 2022',
category: {
tag: 'laravel-tutorials',
color: '#e17b77'
},
link: {
url: 'https://w3courses.org/',
text: 'View'
}
},
{
text: 'MongoDB Tutorials',
date: 'March 07 2022',
category: {
tag: 'mongodb-tutorials',
color: '#1DA1F2'
},
link: {
url: 'https://w3courses.org',
text: 'View'
}
}
];
const TimelineItem = ({ data }) => (
<div className="timeline-item">
<div className="timeline-item-content">
<span className="tag" style={{ background: data.category.color }}>
{data.category.tag}
</span>
<time>{data.date}</time>
<p>{data.text}</p>
{data.link && (
<a
href={data.link.url}
target="_blank"
rel="noopener noreferrer"
>
{data.link.text}
</a>
)}
<span className="circle" />
</div>
</div>
);
const Timeline = () =>
timelineData.length > 0 && (
<div className="timeline-container">
{timelineData.map((data, idx) => (
<TimelineItem data={data} key={idx} />
))}
</div>
);

Now, we have an <Timeline /> component we can use this in our functional or class components. For example we are using this in our App Component.
const App = () => <>
<h1>React Timeline</h1>
<Timeline />
</>;
ReactDOM.render(<App />, document.getElementById('app'));
