Gamedev.js Jam 2025 start and theme announcement!

Sixth yearly edition of the online competition for web game developers just started! Join Gamedev.js Jam 2025 on Itch - you have exactly 13 days between April 13th, 5 PM CET and April 26th, 5 PM CET to build an HTML5 game and win cool prizes in the process!

Theme

This year’s theme is… BALANCE!

Theme

As always you are free to interpret it however you like. Balance can mean physical equilibrium on a scale, or stability during sports. It could be you bank account’s balance, or mental steadiness. Your entry can focus on physical balancing, resource management, combat balance, moral or life balance, symmetry and aesthetics, ecological balance, or even controlling two things at once.

Balance is a versatile theme and can inspire a wide range of creative interpretations!

Awesome! I'm participating and currently developing a game for the Alibaba Cloud Web Game Challenge. The open source and "build it with Phaser" challenges were already on my radar, so this jam came at the perfect time! The "balance" theme fits really well with the idea I had in mind. Super excited to see what everyone creates!

Pretty cool to see so many ways to explore balance in making games. What kind of balance do you think would be the hardest or most interesting to show in a game?

Given the brainstorming sessions so far folks try to go past the first physical balancing game mechanics and implement more complicated ideas (which they have plenty), so curious how this will end up.
