Our monthly reminder: The goal of the Process Analytics project is to provide a means to rapidly display meaningful Process Analytics components in your web pages using BPMN 2.0 notation and Open Source libraries.
Goodbye summer 🏖️, welcome colorful autumn 🍂! For the Process Analytics team, fall activities and news start to color the project calendar 🔥. From preparation for Hacktoberfest, to improving the integration of bpmn-visualization in projects, September was a busy month. Let’s see what’s what 📚.
Events
Participation in Hacktoberfest 2022 as maintainers
This year again, the Process Analytics team is participating in Hacktoberfest 2022, as we did in Hacktoberfest 2021 and 2020.
So what is Hacktoberfest 🤔?
It is the biggest open source event globally, organized by DigitalOcean 🌐. During the month of October, all open source enthusiasts (called contributors) are encouraged to participate by contributing to open source projects.
On the other side, project _maintainers _are invited to prepare their repositories to receive valuable contributions from the community. The Process Analytics team worked hard in September 💪 to create different contribution categories.

Promoting Hacktoberfest with Process Analytics
We have also developed a small application that can be easily customized and used by Hacktoberfest maintainers to promote their own projects. The application shows a simple process explaining how to participate. It is available as a live demo of the bpmn-visualization-examples repository.
Participation in ICPM, the leading Process Mining conference
Our demo proposal submitted to the International Conference on Process Mining (ICPM) 2022 has been accepted 🥳 .
What is ICPM❓
It is a leading conference for process analytics researchers, practitioners and vendors. During a one week event, the latest scientific results, tools and trends are shared and discussed by community leaders.
As part of the conference structure, a demo session is organized to showcase innovative process mining tools and applications. The Process Analytics team is going to present a live demo. Join us during the week of October 23-28, 2022 in Bolzano 🔥.
We are on Discord
We have set up a Discord server for Process Analytics. You can now join and get in touch with us.
Different channels are available for different purposes:
- To get our latest news, visit the **📣 news **channel.
- Use the ❓ questions-answers channel if you have any question related to the project usage.
- We welcome any feedback and suggestions. Just ping us on the **feedback **channel and we’ll be more than happy to read/listen.
- Finally, two channels are dedicated to contributors: 💻 contributing and hacktoberfest.
bpmn-visualization JS/TS library
In September, we released 2 versions of the bpmn-visualization library: 0.26.1 & 0.26.2.
These 2 releases improve the integration of bpmn-visualization in projects.
Simplified bundler and framework configuration to integrate bpmn-visualization
It is now easier to use bpmn-visualization in Parcel, Webpack and Angular projects 🔥. Previously, it was necessary to add a special configuration to the bundler to integrate bpmn-visualization. Starting with version 0.26.2, this is not needed anymore.
Clarified TypeScript support
In the past, the minimum version of TypeScript required by bpmn-visualization to work was not clearly indicated. We’ve fixed that too:
👀 bpmn-visualization currently requires TypeScript 4.5. This requirement is enforced by automatic tests and there is no plan to increase the minimum TypeScript requirement in the upcoming bpmn-visualization versions.
Plans for the future
Here are the topics we will be addressing in the coming months:
- Development of Process Analytics/Mining use cases using the bpmn-visualization libraries
- Simplification of integration in TypeScript projects
