Happy Star Wars Day! Let's have a little fun.
Which Star Wars character do you think would make the best developer? I think the obvious choices are the methodical and detail-oriented C-3PO and the creative and intuitive R2-D2.
But what about Luke Skywalker? He's a skilled pilot and Jedi, yes; do you think he possesses the problem-solving skills necessary to excel as a developer?
Could Rey utilize her extensive knowledge of the Force to better understand complex coding languages and algorithms?
Would the calculating and ruthless tactics of Darth Vader make him a formidable developer? Would his tendency to lean towards the dark side hinder or bolster his success in the industry?
Jar Jar Binks? 😂 Although he's portrayed as a clumsy and bumbling character, he does demonstrate a certain level of resourcefulness and problem-solving ability in his role as a Gungan military officer. But his unconventional methods and communication style might impact his effectiveness as a developer. Would he be able to adapt to the technical jargon and structured approach required in software development, or would his unfortunate Jar Jar-ness cause more harm than good?
Discuss. And may the fourth Be with you. 🌌

Babu Frik cracks C-3PO API credentials to access his hidden functions. If he isn't a dev in his verse I don't know who is
He came to mind as well, but feels too chaotic to be a long-term good developer. You need some organization, communication, consistency, and mentoring capabilities to be a good dev in a company.
Yeah, he doesn't strike me as someone who writes great docs.
But there is so much bureaucracy in the galaxy, this guy is someone you really need sometimes— somebody who is going to be unintimidated by a mangled system and can hack it into usability.
I guess he's the guy for the type of jobs nobody else can do :) so we don't bother asking him for documentation...
But in the new ones he has the manuals tho xD
Some would say Yoda because of some precedents. But I'd say Kuiil from The Mandalorian:
Ooooo yeah, agreed!
From the wiki on Ugnaughts I see that Din Djarin is quoted as saying:
Don't know about devs but lead dev-ops/SRE should be only one!
This guy can hack
Something actually says Leia to me. She was tenacious, took on big things, didn't give up, but also negotiated, adapted, led, delegated, and invested in others. I'm not sure why her, but something tells me she'd be a great dev.
Also, knew how to program R2D2 to send the message to Obi Wan. Given that you really don't see that functionality much elsewhere from the droids, it might be a little non-trivial to get right, even if she made it seem simple. 😅
R2D2 shows some skills
Ooooh I started the season 3 of The Mandalorian yesterday! What a coincidence! 😄
I think Yoda is the best character, patient and intelligent.
Cassian Andor. He reprogrammed K-2SO, originally an Imperial security droid.
Chopper he speaks the most common developer language, profanity.
